The Inconvenient Truth..A Baker, a Photographer and two Ministers Walk into a bar

I have been quiet on the ‘interwebs’ since the primary in November. To be honest, the last year has been disappointing to watch the political games play out. Even more frustrating is to watch the uninformed populous act out. One example is the blood thirst that came out of Ferguson before, during and to this day, over the Grand Jury’s decision not to prosecute the police officer who was attacked by Michael Brown. Violence continues even after all the facts came out about the gentle giant,’ complete with a video of him tossing around a man half his size and more than twice his age. This did not deter these people from demanding their pound of flesh, often injuring the people that they werefightingfor in the process.

More recently Hollywood unified in a mock outrage against North Korea over a movie that they felt needed to be released, claiming America’s 1st Amendment rights to back up the crusade. And last week the world came out in unity for a Newspapers right to publish a cartoon in France. It’s nice to see some passion from the ranks. I was starting to believe that you can lead the sheep to water, but you cannot make them understand that they are dying of thirst.

The last two, mentioned are in my opinion worthy causes because they are based on truth. Our forefathers wrote our Constitution based on our inalienable rights, given to us by God. Meaning that the rights spoken of in our Bill Of Rights were given to everyone, regardless of what country you are born to, and the USA was choosing to adhere to these rights. It’s the Rule of Law. But things have been changing in our country for a while now. These rights are being slowly eroded. Not through legislation per say, but through political correctness. Our new unspoken culture is if your thoughts, beliefs, and words don’t meet with the reigning political narrative, then you are incorrect and deserve to be punished.

In recent years a Baker, Photographer and at least two ministers have been punished for standing on their beliefs. Their crime: Refusing to bake a cake with a same sex couple topper on it, take pictures at a same-sex wedding, and performing a same-sex wedding. Yup, they said, “No thank you, I’m a Christian, and based on what my Bible says, I cannot participate in your big day.” That should have been the end of it. The happy couple should have moved on to other businesses, and lived happily ever after. In my little backwoods world here in NH, I could have given them names of a Baker, a Photographer and a church that would have been happy to work with them. Hell, I found these businesses and the church all under one roof. But it was not the end of it for these small business owners. No, the happy couples, in the midst of planning their futures, decided to defame, destroy and sue the Baker, the Photographer and Wedding Chapel. The Last I knew, the Baker was struggling to keep the doors open due to legal fee’s and was given a “re-educationcourt order.

Yes folks, it isn’t just an idea from a book of fiction written almost 70 years ago, in a setting of 30 years ago. It’s real. It’s here. And it’s happening now. If you haven’t read George Orwell’s “1984” I highly recommend you do so, now. It’s a blueprint for what we are seeing around us, if we open our eyes. Keeping our heads buried won’t make it go away. Don’t watch the movie, it doesn’t do it justice. Read the book.

The courts also ruled against the Photographer. The ministers, who operate The Hitching Post Wedding Chapel, are today facing $1000 a day fine, for every day they don’t perform a gay wedding and 6 months in jail. Let me say that again. 6 months in jail. The ministers do not operate an actual church; however it’s only a matter time before churches are mandated to do so as well. A gay couple in England is working on that now, and it will soon become the law of our land.

I personally don’t care what people do in the bedrooms. But I do care that laws that protect their rights also are supposed to protect the rights of all religious beliefs and lifestyles. Including the rights of these businesses not to compromise their core values. Naturally so long as you are not inflicting harm on another. You should care as well. They will be coming for you.

This is the Inconvenient Truth…
